Is Healthy Skin Picture Perfect Skin? Let’s Discuss.
We all see pictures on social media of “flawless skin.” Whether it be a celebrity or someone we know personally, we can’t help but ask ourselves, how does she do it?! The reality is flawless skin is difficult and highly close to impossible to obtain all the time. yet we still want it. As an esthetician, I can tell you it’s more important to strive for healthy skin over flawless skin. Here are a few of my top tips for noticeably healthy skin, and what products you need to own to make it yours:
Tip #1- Cleanse. No seriously, it’s really important.
This first simple step in our routine can have the greatest impact on maintaining your skin’s overall health. A really good cleanser can keep your skin balanced and sets you up to absorb the serums and creams that we invest so much hope in. When looking for your daily cleanser, find one that offers you a good clean and doesn't leave your face feeling tight, dry, or super red. These may be visible indicators that you are experiencing too much stimulation when cleansing and may eventually compromise your barrier. A little flush to your skin is normal- anything above and beyond that may need to be evaluated. Tip #2- Treatment.
Think of this step as your daily vitamin supplement. Antioxidants such as Vitamin C are extremely helpful at maintaining a healthy skin tissue. A treatment product will most likely be in the form of a serum, complex, or emulsion. These products are lighter or more liquid in texture and they absorb deeper into your skin.
